Stimulus money to be used on D-Backs, Rockies facility
The Salt River Tribe will use federal stimulus money to help it build a $100 million Spring Training complex to house the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, who are planning to leave Tucson and move to the new facility in 2011.
The Salt River-Pima Maricopa Indian Community is due to receive $22.6 million in the form of a tax-exempt loan from the federal government. Anthony Farese, tribe treasurer, told the Business Journal in Phoenix the amount to be used for the baseball complex was yet to be determined. The community intends to pay for the rest of the construction itself.
By the way, even though Obama will claim that jobs were created here, that will be a false assumption.
This facility was going to be built anyway. Now all of America, their children and their children's children will be paying for it.
