Where have they been?

For years, Congressman Ryan and President Bush have been sounding the alarm on Social Security and Medicare reform. Some people are just now catching on.

Their central point is indisputable: Congress and the president should act now, because the do-nothing option makes the coming temblor even worse.

Unfortunately, President Bush, most of Congress and the presidential candidates, Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain, are ignoring the warning signs. One exception is Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who recently proposed a series of measures to control entitlement spending. While we don’t buy them all, we give Ryan credit for trying to jump-start the conversation.

Anytime Bush has even spoken about Social Security, the liberal heads begin spewing garbage.

Now we have a problem.

I would like to welcome the Milwaukee Journal Editorial Board to the conversation.

Since the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel finally believes that all options are on the table, perhaps it is time to privatize a portion of Social Security.

Call me silly, but why should Americans trust the very people that broke the system to be the ones to fix it?

By the way, these are the very same folks that broke Medicare and now they want us to trust them with all of America's health care needs. What? Ruining the healthcare needs of senior citizens was not enough, now they want to ruin it for everyone else also?
