What a nightmare

The ridiculous pension nightmare for Milwaukee County employees never seems to go away.

The massive 6 figure lump sum payments handed to Milwaukee County employees by former county executive Ament continues to grow and grow.

Because Ament reduced the amount of time it takes to be vested from 10 years to 5 years in 2001, even more county employees, who have been hired since then, have now become eligible for the large lump sum payments.

Over the course of the two-year stalemate, more than 500 workers hired during that period have gained the right to opt for a lump-sum pension payout if they retire from Milwaukee County, figures requested by the Journal Sentinel show.
