Israel's amazing self control

I tell you, Israel has made it very clear that they want their soldiers back and they will not stop bombing until they get them.

Israel seems very intent on limiting the civilian casualties, they are even dropping leaflets to citizens of Lebanon, telling them to stay away from known Hebollah hide out, so they will not get hurt.

Israel has a right to protect itself against Hezbollah and Hamas. Now the Lebanese government is asking Bush to make Israel stop.

The President's response-

"The president is not going to make military decisions for Israel," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

Lebanon's prime minister asked Bush, during a phone call Friday, to pressure Israel for a cease-fire. But Bush told Prime Minister Fuad Saniora that Israelis have a right to protect themselves.

The Lebanese government are beginning to get desperate-

Hezbollah is an Iranian-backed militant Shiite faction which has a free hand in southern Lebanon and holds seats in parliament. The Lebanese government has no control over Hezbollah but has long resisted international pressure to forcibly disarm the group for fears of igniting sectarian conflict.

IMO, I cannot see this turning into all out war. The only countries that have any kind of fire-power and could take on Israel directly are Jordan and Iran. Jordan has no desire to take on Israel and have left them alone for years. Iran would love to take on Israel, but there are some American soldiers standing in Iraq, between Iran and Israel. Any movement that Iran makes towards Israel, the American soldiers would stop them.
